The steel coil handling electric flat carriage deployed at the customer's plant is used for transporting aluminum coils with diameters of 0.8 m to 2 m. It carries two coils per trip with a maximum payload of 50 tons. The produced aluminum coils are mainly transferred from the production workshop to the warehouse. There is a trench to cross along the transport route, and the gate openings of the workshop and warehouse are not aligned on a straight line. To realize material transshipment, we designed a parallel track traverser ferry cart solution for the client.

A 55-ton rail flat cart travels inside the trench. Rails are laid on its platform, and the top surface of these rails is flush with the ground rails inside the workshop and warehouse. When the transfer cart travels along the workshop rails to the trench area, the rails on the traverser align perfectly with the workshop floor rails. The transfer cart drives fully onto the traverser and stops. The traverser then transports the transfer cart to the warehouse gate and halts once its rails dock with the warehouse gate rails. Afterwards, the coil handling electric flat carriage runs into the warehouse along the connected rails.

During the design phase, track docking accuracy was the customer's primary concern. Our system adopts automatic stop control, keeping the docking error within ±5 mm to achieve seamless rail connection.
