Load Size of the Electric Transfer Car And Suitable Power Supply
Load Size Ranges
Light: 500kg–5 tons (small components/tools).
Medium: 5–20 tons (semi-finished products/pallets).
Heavy: 20–50 tons (steel coils/large machinery).
Ultra-Heavy: 50+ tons (oversized loads in metallurgy/construction).
Suitable Power Supplies
Battery-Powered: Ideal for light-medium loads (500kg–20 tons) with flexible routes. Lead-acid (cost-effective, 8–10h use) or lithium-ion (fast-charging, high-frequency use); 15–20 tons need ≥200Ah capacity.
Cable-Powered: Best for heavy-ultra-heavy loads (20+ tons) on fixed rails. Continuous power via sliding lines/trailing cables, suits 24/7 operations.
Hybrid/Custom: For 10–30 tons in mixed scenarios (flexible + fixed routes), combining battery (short distances) and cable (long-haul) power.
Matching Principles
Higher loads need higher voltage (e.g., 380V for 20+ tons) and motor power.
Batteries fit clean/temperature-controlled areas; cables excel in dusty/high-heat environments.
High-frequency heavy loads use cables; intermittent flexible tasks use batteries.

Cable Power Supply: The "Stable Choice" for Heavy/Ultra-Heavy Loads
Core Adaptation Logic
It provides continuous power via trolley wires or trailing cables, eliminating concerns about battery life. This makes it ideal for heavy/ultra-heavy loads that require low-frequency, long-distance, fixed-route, and 24/7 operations.
Specific Categories & Adaptable Scenarios
Cable Type |
Suitable Load Capacity |
Installation Requirements |
Suitable Scenarios |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trolley Wire Power Supply | 20–50 tons (fixed long routes) | Trolley wires must be laid along the rails (3–4 meters above the ground), with straight rail sections as the main focus. | Coil transfer on fixed rails in steel plants; long-distance equipment handling in heavy machinery factories. |
| Cable Reel Power Supply | 20–30 tons (fixed short routes) | Cables move with the vehicle via a cable chain, with a maximum route length of ≤200 meters. | Short-distance heavy-load transfer in medium-sized steel plant workshops; segmented fixed-route transportation in shipyards. |
Accurate adaptation of environment and power supply methods
Clean/constant temperature environment (such as electronic factories, pharmaceutical factories): Priority should be given to lithium battery power supply (no cable dragging to avoid dust accumulation);
High dust/high temperature environment (such as metallurgical plants and casting workshops): Cable power supply must be selected (sliding contact wires with dust covers, cables made of high temperature resistant materials);
Outdoor/Rainy Environment: Cable power supply should choose "waterproof sliding contact line" (IP67 protection), and battery power supply should add a rain shelter to the battery compartment (to avoid water ingress and short circuit).
