Safety operation rules for cable powered transfer cart

Jul 31, 2021

Cable powered transfer carts rely on power cables for operation, requiring strict safety protocols to prevent electrical hazards and equipment damage. Follow these key rules:

1. Pre-Operation Safety Checks

Inspect power cables for cracks, abrasions, or exposed wires; replace damaged cables immediately.

Check cable reels for smooth rotation and proper tension to avoid tangling or dragging.

Verify electrical connections (plugs, terminals) are tight and dry; ensure ground wires are securely connected.

2. Operational Guidelines

Keep cables clear of wheels, cargo, and obstacles to prevent crushing or tearing during movement.

Avoid sudden starts/stops to reduce cable stress; maintain a steady speed (≤5 km/h).

Never touch cables with wet hands or metal tools; stand clear of cable paths during operation.

3. Loading & Unloading Safety

Ensure cargo weight stays within rated load to avoid overloading the cable system.

Load goods evenly; avoid shifting that could pull or damage cables.

Park on level ground, engage brakes, and secure cables before loading/unloading.

4. Emergency Procedures

Press the emergency stop button immediately if cables snag, spark, or the cart malfunctions.

Disconnect the main power supply before handling cable issues or performing repairs.

Keep a fire extinguisher nearby; never use water to extinguish electrical fires.

5. Maintenance & Storage

Regularly lubricate cable reels and inspect connectors for corrosion.

Coil cables neatly after use; store in a dry, dust-free area to prevent insulation damage.

Schedule monthly electrical safety tests to check insulation and grounding effectiveness.
